About This Site

The idea for Dad Blogs was conceived by Joe Schatz and Pete Janelle, both whom are dads and bloggers. They identified the opportunity to tap into the untouched niche of dad bloggers and went live with the Dad Blogs community in January 2009.

Dad Blogs is a social networking site primarily for dads and dad bloggers, providing opinion and information from a dad’s point-of-view. What makes Dad Blogs special, however, is its inclusiveness. Dad Blogs welcomes moms as well as a part of keeping the conversation real and balanced. Dad Blogs strives to reach as many people without alienating particular segments of society in an effort to promote family dialogue and provide a place for all types of parents to voice their opinions.

In addition to promoting family, Dad Blogs also addresses the often incorrect stereotypes associated with fatherhood, countering them with an open dialogue among the community, often in a humorous manner. This outlet gives dads an opportunity to unite and share common interests and experiences, breaking stereotypes and reshaping this emerging demographic.

The future of Dad Blogs is bright, with conference planning in the works, expanding membership, corporate partnerships and further focus on the family. Questions about this site can be directed to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Pete Janelle

Although you might know me on the web as peteej, my real name is Pete Janelle. I live in North Central Florida with my lovely wife, two beautiful daughters, three highly entertaining dogs and two cats that could care less about anything. When I'm not at my day job, I can be found posting phone reviews and camera phone photos at mygpscameraphone.com or causing trouble with Joe here at DadBlogs.

I reluctantly ended my college career after four years and one semester, receiving a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Florida. I double minored in English and Game Day/Road Trip Management. Seriously, I purposely extended my education one extra semester just so I could get season tickets to the football games. I'm orange and blue all the way.

My interests include drinking pina coladas and getting caught in the rain, goofing around with my girls, cooking, Gator football, web and graphic design, photography, blogging and trying to be as awesome as my wife. I hope to write a book someday and maybe travel the world again, but I'm in no hurry. I'm too busy enjoying living in the moment.

Friend me at my Dad Blogs profile--you know you want to.

Joeprah

Stay at home dad, blogger, husband, coach, volunteer and much more.  Like any stay at home parent I wear many hats and I sometimes wear them backwards.  You may remember me from my parenting blog Joeprah and in fact the name Joeprah has taken on a life of its own outside of the net as all my friends and family members have taken to calling me by my second name more than I would care.  I enjoy a good laugh and my family and try my best to illustrate that in anything I do.  I have a beautiful wife and three amazing daughters.

I don't really know how to define myself.  I have a degree in English Writing from Towson University (although I hate grammar), I worked in construction and ran a Spanish program most notably after my college career ended.  I am a relentless positive thinker and fancy myself to be more of a problem solver than a creative sort.  I have had a ton of part-time jobs during my continuing stint as a stay-at-home-dad.  Restaurant manager, wine salesmen, liquor store retail sales, waiting tables, bartending all have been fair game over the course of the last eight years.

I am really into wine, poker, basketball, my wife, kids and friends.  We have a great cat that our girls constantly harass and I spend way too much time at Chick-fil-a.  I am eating myself into a new waistline and I may be too competive for my own good.  I love finding new music to listen to and I am currently digging Sufjan Stevens, DeVotchKa and Vampire Weekend.

You can find out more about me at my Dad Blogs profile here.
