Price Adjustments - Shopping with ConfidenceMan_Shopping

Have you ever made a big purchase only to find the item went on sale a few days later? Or do you hesitate to make that purchase because you always are thinking it will drop in price the next week?

Well good news......if you shop smart and with a little research you can start shopping with confidence and worry no more!

A lot of retailers will give you a "price adjustment" in the form of a refund or store credit for the difference in the price you paid and the new sale price. Many of these retailers offer this one to two weeks after the purchase date. Of course each retailer has some limitations they enforce, like the amount of time since your purchase or maybe if it was a clearance item etc.. Just make sure you know their policy before making the drive back to the store so you don't waste your time.

Some retailers (although these are fewer) will even give you a price adjustment if you find the item cheaper at a competitor the next week.

You will need your receipt and a copy of the ad showing the new sales price generally to get the adjustment. Just take all your info to the customer service desk.

There are even some web sites where you can enter the item and they will alert you if a cheaper price is found. Good way to keep a handle on if a item(s) you recently purchase does go on sale or drop in price. One of the more popular of these sites is pricegrabber.com

A Little Traveling Music, Please

As parents, many of us try very hard to spend as much quality time with our children, so that we can live vicariously through their curious eyes, soak in the unbridled joy that they bring to the world, and protect the retirement fund we all hope that those golf lessons will bring.  Those hours at your home playing blocks with your children, teaching them how to cook and shave (not simultaneously, of course) are treasured parts of the parenting experience, and should be savored. In my experience, however, the travels en route to these experiences is NOT the kind of thing I’d like to revisit in my twilight years via photobook, video or forthcoming holographic movie.

That’s why I jumped at the chance to review the new Sony Xplod MEX-BT5700U in-dash car radio system – my hopes were that it would prove a formidable weapon in an arsenal of distraction employed during our various automotive activity intermissions.  For a little perspective, our previous audio system was the standard single head unit installed in our Honda CR-V, which basically consisted of an AM/FM tuner, single disc CD-player and an AUX jack.  Our general use of it was for the CD player (almost exclusively blasting a well-worn Baby Einstein CD to soothe our screaming offspring), with the occasional connection from iPhone/iPod and a standalone XM Satellite radio through a patch cable into the AUX.
