collaborationIf you hang out in this forum for longer than sixteen seconds, you'll realize that there is a ton of talent and creativity here at Dad Blogs. We are creative with our words, some are creative with their art, and others could be creative with their designing skills. Whatever it is, most of us have this latent quality that we want to explode on a grander scale.

We would like to write that book. We would like our graphic designs to get noticed. We would like our mad guitar skills to be on some sort of music track. Whatever it is we have this social forum where can help each other out.

We are all brothers and sisters with the common bond of parenting and we respect each other because of it.

So why shouldn't we be able to help each other out with creative projects? If we have a vision or idea, it shouldn't collect dust because we don't know how to complete every facet of it.

That's where this group is coming from. Do you love to write fiction and want to work on being published? Are you an illustrator that wants to see your work in a children's book? Do you want to make that dream you've had since childhood to make a comic book come to life?

The possibilities are endless. There is no reason why our brotherhood should not be able to work together and get these creative pursuits accomplished.

I've discussed this with the powers that be and they are ecstatic about the idea.

So I invite you to join the Dad Blogs Collaborations group. List your talents. List your ideas. Browse other's interests and see if you can work on getting something you've always wanted  brought to life.

Filming, editing, visual effects - I want to make film smilies/smiley.gif
I am not a professional, but I have been doing this for 5 years,
which I kind of blog about on my other blog: http://synapticlight.com/

I think it would be cool to get involved with a group of fathers developing
an idea for a story to script to film to edit to distribution.
maybe a story about Fatherhood with some of our experiences included.

I've been trying to get my children's books (that I also illustrated) and adult book on dating and relationships published for about a minute or fifteen. LOL Been intermittently sending out query letters to agents since January. Have gotten some helpful rejection letters but aside from that no contracts yet. I've found some resources I found helpful to keep budding authors from being taken advantage of but I think that those lists are listed all over so it's not like I am privy to any great secret. But I'd be happy to let ya'll know what I've come to learn.

I write fiction and I'm also a long-time blogger. I've written for my personal blog for over 5 years and I'm a contributing writer over at the Discovering Dad blog. I have very strong editing skills and I work full time as an Online Producer & Web Development Project Manager.

I'm in. I've worked as a book editor, a published writer (although just essays and poems), an actor and a children's performer. I would love to collaborate on a book idea, film script or chilren's show.

My goal and dream is to write a book about fatherhood and raising boys as well as men's issues. My hope and dream is to write them, get them published and then tour around on a lecture circuit discussing them and helping boys and men become more then they ever dreamed about.
I really like this idea and think its fantastic and I would enjoy being part of it.

I have worked as a reporter and editor and want to expand into fiction. I have written fiction for myself, but never put it out there for criticism or to be published.

very cool idea. always wanted to write a book, never know where to start. crap, all these people have true skill sets. all i have is procrastination :0/

i guess my skill would be somewhat of a poetry writer, half-assed photographer (and no, i'm not trying to make this a joke this just means sometimes it's good other times i could definitely learn more), and like to draw on occasion. in the future, i'd like to try to write at least one children's book and perhaps a teen relationship one.

Well I dunno at all if this is helpful or if it would be possible to integrate this info here but I found a lot of useful info at www.agentquery.com For those, like me, who are working to get published (so they can feel like they get to wear big girl pants) I found it particularly helpful to submit query letters for critique and cruise around the site for info in general. They also provide a fairly expansive data base of agents.

I did, however, found it sort of amusing that some of the "publishers" that they warn aspiring authors about are also advertisers. I suppose "caveat emptor" is definitely applicable. I also feel that it is perfectly within their rights to accept money from advertisers regardless of whether or not they are scam artists. I mean if you don't bother reading THE FREE info their site provides then I guess you can't kvetch too much if you fall for one of their scam advertisers. LOL
