Fatherhood Friday is both a day and a growing community of dads and moms sharing stories, ideas, photos and movies with one topic in mind - fatherhood. In a world that seems happy to deliver a message that dads are incapable buffoons, Dad Blogs is committed to changing that perception. The reality is, as we see it, parents today are more aware of parenting and the impact it has on their children and dads everywhere are becoming more active caregivers. We are going to start pushing themes with Fatherhood Friday to:
A)Â Â Â Â Keep people on their toes
B)Â Â Â Â Â Focus participants on relevant topics
This will be this first week of the theme experiment, so if it takes two weeks for it to take off—that’s fine. Three weeks, sure--we're patient. Four—umm, maybe we’ll have to ditch it and try something else like themes for Beer Chat or something.
BEER CHAT UPDATE:
We used to have a group called 'Beer Dads' that met on Friday nights. We would drink, review beer and hang out. Apparently, we were crazy to have stopped. So, sign up if you are going to be able to make it for a portion of the Beer Chat. It should be a blast. Now, back to the theme talk.So, without further ado—the running theme for Fatherhood Friday for the next two weeks is:
The Start of the School Year
The goal is to bring out posts regarding fatherhood and the start of school. It might be a reflection or a post looking forward, or simply something steeped in the present. We think that the introduction of themes will only enhance the Fatherhood Friday tradition and bring more depth and interest to an already solid institution. We are looking forward to more weeks of solid fatherhood posts and the networking and fellowship that the Mr. Linky widget brings.

Well we did have beer dad meetings on Fridays where we would review beers and chat in the group chat. Maybe we should resurrect it?

Never mind reviewing the beers, lets just drink beer and chat. That would be very interesting. For some of us, after a few beers, no matter what kind, it's all the same anyway.
Themes should make very interesting reading. I have written about 17 posts about going back to school . . . it can be traumatic, you know.

I like the theme idea, but curious how it will turn out. Back to school, hmmmm. Maybe to pre-school. I will have to sip on a beer and think about that one. -Jason

I think the theme idea makes sense, and gives some direction to the whole meme. I'm also in favor of doing anything over beer (any Seattleites out there?).

I love the theme idea, first of all.
I hate to make your head explode though, but I wanted to request if you might be able to post themes the week before? (You might be planning to do this, since this week and next are for the same theme) It'd be helpful for those of us who work on our FF posts earlier in the week to know what the upcoming theme is. Just an idea. Thanks for your time and attention.
