After this week's breakthrough Daddy Yak members, guests and complete strangers have been asking the same question, "What will be the topic of the next Daddy Yak?"  With the intense pressure of being huge internet stars and now video moguls, Dad Blogs is quietly becoming the triple threat--what with our dance moves and everything.  This pressure makes it tricky when it comes time to pick a topic for Daddy Yak, but using 100% of our brains and someone else's idea we have done it.

The Next Daddy Yak Topic:

The Differences Between Gay & Straight Parents

Remember This is How Daddy Yak will work:

  • Dads (or moms) will have two weeks to send their videos to Dad Blogs for consideration
    • There are many sites to use to send large files over the internet, just look them up over google or direct message Joeprah or Pete for suggestions
  • Team Dad Blogs will splice the videos together making one awesome video and release it to the world giving linky love and credit to those who contributed
  • Everyone will rejoice in how awesome we are
  • Some folks may experience a feeling of euphoria
Leave a comment letting us know what your thoughts are on the topic and any ideas on how we can make this work best.

This is a great idea! I think we should try and detail out a few situations or scenarios where we can compare the actions/responses of straight and gay parents. I'll start by stealing one from the last Daddy Yak:

How would you react if your child fell down at the park?

Others? I think it'll be real interesting to see if there is a difference at all!

Great idea for a Daddy Yak. I am a straight dad. My older daughter tends to cry wolf. When she falls down at the park, I check her out calmly, get a sense of if she is really hurt or not and try not to make a big deal about it.

Here's another question. What do you say to your child when they ask why so-an-so of their friends has two mommies or daddies? I would probably just tell them that parents and kids come in all types and it doesn't make a diffence if they are male or female, just that they love you and each other.

This is great. So far:

1. How would you react if your child fell down at the park?
2. What do you say to your child when they ask why so-an-so of their friends has two mommies or daddies?

My turn to add one:

3. How concerned are you about your child's appearance when you are in public?

Let's keep it going! ~ Next!

your video had me rolling. i have some scrapbooking stuff here somewhere, but i don't really scrapbook. maybe a page or two has been done lol i'm way more into techie gadgets than my husband. too funny about the sunglasses. i didn't know i was trying to be a diva. yes, i'm trying to be a bit fashionable, but i do wear mine for the protection. why should we look ugly getting UV protection? don't kid yourself about guys not trying to be cool in their shades or showing some kind of fashion/status symbol with em lol

i feel sorry for sj that his wife makes him out an exact schedule lol he's the one at home, he can make his own schedule. his kid will still survive smilies/smiley.gif

How about, how do you show your child affection? What do you think would be the difference between a gay dad and his child....and a straight dad and his child..

I have an idea. In hopes of getting more people to put themself on video and participate in the Yakking sessions, perhaps a community consensus on the topic should be taken. Collect topic ideas, then vote on the one to use.
